The 5 Ws of Organic Waste Management

40% of food is wasted in America which translates to billions of pounds of food waste in landfills. This generates methane (a potent greenhouse gas) which contributes to climate change. However, when food is composted, it creates healthy soil that can be used by farmers and increases crop yields.

SB 1383 is a bill passed by California to reduce the amount of organic waste that is disposed in landfills. However, implementing this program in Southern California has proven to be challenging as there are limited educational resources. My project included modifying the existing community workshop presentation on organic waste management in households and provide versions that are in different languages.

Programs used: Google Slides, Google Docs
